This Christmas holiday season, we purchased a nice-sized fake tree with lights and all for the bargain price of $10. Scott found the gem on the Internet and picked it up that night. The kids were so excited to decorate the tree, and I was elated they wanted to do it.
So Scott's job was to put the tree up. Then our little rooster took over and "went to town", if you will, making ornaments. She spent a few hours in her room at her desk drawing, coloring, and cutting out her magnificent creations (snowflakes, candy canes, stars, etc.) for our tree. Ryan was in charge of hanging the candy canes, and I reluctantly strung popcorn. It's NEVER my idea to string popcorn . . . . It's too time-demanding for me as I get impatient with monotony of it all. Three minutes feels like an hour, just to give you an idea. However, the other three members of our family insisted I do it so I got the popcorn maker out and started the project. When I finished (I did as much as I could possible stand, honestly!), Scott and Ryan hung my sparse vines of popcorn across the tree.
And to top it all off (drum roll . . . da da da DA), Hayley placed her angel on the tree top with a little bit of help from Dad. I have to say, all in all, our 2008 tree was a hit. Hayley and Ryan had so much fun with it and so did our cat, OSCAR.
